Our Mission:

To establish a safe and comfortable atmosphere that promotes relaxation and quiet healing.

To guide you in your quest for total-body health, fitness and wellness and to provide you with the tools to get you there.

Tammy M. Powers, BS, LMT, NMT, CPMT decided that she could best meet her clients needs by incorporating neuromuscular massage therapy with her sports medicine and physical therapy backgrounds. In 2001, Tammy founded Point of Origin NEUROMUSCULAR & SPORTS THERAPIES to provide just such an integrated approach to total-body fitness and wellness.

Since that time, Point of Origin has grown into a recognized name in the community of alternative health. Tammy continues to strive for excellence each day, to meet each client's individual needs, to find the Point of Origin of each ache, to locate the source of your pain.

Tammy M. Powers, BS, LMT, NMT, Pre & Perinatal Therapist

Originally from Northwest Pennsylvania, Tammy M. Powers graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelors degree in Exercise and Sport Science. She has 11 years experience working as a Physical Therapist Technician and strength trainer. While at Penn State, she carried out and maintained strength training techniques for the 1986 National Champion Penn State football team. She also was an assistant student athletic trainer for the Penn State track and field and gymnastics teams. Tammy also was one of the program developers for the 1988 Special Olympics. After graduating, Tammy worked for a private out patient clinic in physical therapy where she developed a Work Hardening program to assist physical therapists in the rehabilitation of work related injuries. Then, in 1999, she attended New Life Institute School of Massage Excellence, and received certifications in Neuromuscular Therapy, Swedish and Deep Tissue Therapy, Sports Massage and Chair Massage.

Tammy has been an independent certified neuromuscular massage therapist and exercise specialist since January of 2000 and has been licensed in the state of Georgia since licensure became possible in 2007. She is the sole proprietor of Point of Origin NEUROMUSCULAR & SPORTS THERAPIES. In her practice, she focuses on personal wellness and fitness for individuals who desire maximum health benefits for everyday activities. Tammy unites Neuromuscular therapy, sports massage, and trigger point therapy with personal training and fitness to prevent injury, reduce stress, relieve pain and increase her client's overall health and well-being.

In February 2002, Tammy completed a "labor" intensive course in pregnancy massage and is now a nationally certified Pre & Perinatal Massage Therapist. Tammy is very excited to be expanding her practice in this direction. Pregnancy is a wonderful yet stressful time. First time mothers have no idea what to expect and first time partners don't know how to be supportive. Tammy enjoys being able to help by providing relaxation, pain relief and emotional support for mother's to be. She has already been asked by one of her pregnant moms to attend the birth of their child to help alleviate some of the pains and stressors associated with labor.

Tammy has worked with all types of people with all levels of physical fitness. She will help you achieve your desired total-body wellness by providing the tools you need to reach your goals. She is dedicated to your health, fitness and wellness.
